2008 - 2009 SEASON

The earliest of Ibsen's social-problem plays, A Doll's House catapulted him to international recognition. Combining technique and content in the play's realism, he employed natural dialogue and situations; insisting on the logical necessity of the outcome in a time of women's growing discontent with the social reverberations of Nora's slamming the door as she leaves Torvald continues to the present day.

When poet/songbird Katie Dove is murdered by her manager/husband, the lives of the people surrounding her are deeply affected by the tragedy. Set in a counselor’s office and told through seven different couples, this play takes you on an outrageous and hilarious journey of love, hate and murder. This early work of Mark Roberts was performed for six months to sold-out audiences in Los Angeles and was later optioned by Warned Brothers as a television series. Sexually explicit dialogue and lots of dirty words! A Southern Premiere.

FALL 2008 CASTING RESULTS

Amahl, a shepherd, tries to tell his mother about what he has seen outside; an enormous star with a long tale. His mother, used to his habitual lying, grows angry; she is even angrier when Amahl tells he that a knock at the door is three kings come to visit them. The kings enter and tell the two peasants that they have come to find a king, and they show the rich gifts they have brought him. While Amahl's mother is out gathering the neighbors, Amahl asks the kings questions about their lives. The mother returns, and the villagers present their gifts to the visitors. That night, Amahl's mother tries to steal some of the kings' gold to use to help her child; she is caught, and when the kings offer to let her keep the gold, explaining that the king they seek will need nothing but love to rule his kingdom, she returns it. Amahl offers his staff as an additional gift, and suddenly finds that he can walk. He leaves with the kings to pay homage to the child who has healed him.

A down-and out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite, finally revealing itself to be an alien creature poised for global domination! One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken.
